The Bob-omb Family Tree

Edit: Changed the color scheme of the Hyper Bob-omb to match the other Hyper enemies.

Alex: "If these things aren't Pokemon, then how come they can use Self-Destruct?"

Me: "Because of the gunpowder inside these bombers."

Alex: "Gunpowder? There are a lot of things in this world that I don't get..."

Me: "You and me both..."

Anyway, decided to post the Bob-omb Family Tree of Paper Mario Darkness in Time.

In this game (and any other game they appear in), Bob-ombs specialize in exploding themselves. The later versions (including Gina and her sons) will not KO themselves after using their explosions, making them rather dangerous with high Attack in their explosions. They are often used by Junk Bandits.

Here are their tattles:

Bob-omb:
“That’s a Bob-omb, a walking bomb that can explode very easily. They got very short tempers. Max HP is 4, Attack is 1, and Defense is 0. When they’re attacked, their fuse lights up, meaning they’re about to explode in front of you, doing major damage. Attacking them will cause them to explode early, so don’t directly attack them.”

Hyper Bob-omb:
“That’s a Hyper Bob-omb, a Bob-omb that as a LOT more power than a regular Bob-omb. Max HP is 8, Attack is 4, and Defense is 0. Hyper Bob-ombs don’t get mad when they’re hit, but they can charge up and blow up on the next turn. The explosion does even more damage than a charged attack from a Hyper Spiked Goomba, so beware.”

Military Bob-omb:
"That's a Military Bob-omb, a Bob-omb that is used as artilitary by the Koopa Troop. Max HP is 10, Attack is 7, and Defense is 0. Military Bob-ombs can tackle you and explode in front of you. Their explosion won't KO them, however. When they light their fuse, it mean they're about to cause a large explosion, doing major damage to both of us. They won't survive the blast, but we'll need to KO them before they cause that explosion."

Nova Bob-omb:
"That's a Nova Bob-omb, a Bob-omb used in ancient times as weapons used by rivaling kingdoms. These Bob-ombs were locked up in the Pit of 100 Trials to prevent them from being used as weapons. Max HP is 22, Attack is 12, and Defense is 0. Nova Bob-ombs can tackle you and explode. They can even light their fuse to cause an explosion powerful enough to cause MASSIVE damage to both of us. They will never fall to their own explosions, meaning they'll keep performing giant explosions until we KO them."
