Chapter 3: The Undersea Adventurers (part 2)

After speaking to Scuba Guy and Tori at the Ocean Side Port, Mario dove into the ocean to catch up with his friends. Once at the ocean floor, Mario finds Murry arguing with the others, still with their air supply tanks.

Murry: "That was a dirty trick, Shycan!"

Shycan: "I'm sorry that I couldn't stand your arguing."

Shelby: "Lighten up, Murry. It's only water."

Murry: "... You know what? I'm not even going to bother..."

Mario asks what was going on.

Shycan: "Oh, nothing much. Just Murry arguing as always. So where are Scuba Guy and Tori?"

Mario answered Shycan's question, stating that Tori couldn't follow and Scuba Guy should be coming behind them.

Murry: "Wait, Tori gets to stay behind and I don't!?"

Shycan simply ignore Murry's ramblings.

Shycan: "Well, I guess we should just explore the seafloor for now. Since Murry's being more of himself, either I or Shelby will keep your back."

Mario choose Shelby, since it's been a long time since she fought enemies, and there are bound to be enemies, even in the ocean floor.

Shelby: "Alright, I won't let you down!"

Shycan: "In that case, I'll keep an eye on Murry."

Mario and his friends swam through the ocean floor. Despite not being fast underwater, Mario can swim really well. While they're swimming, however, 3 Cheep Cheeps came out of nowhere and battled Mario. Shycan took the liberty of scanning the Cheep Cheeps.

Shycan: "Scan complete. That's a Cheep Cheep, a fish that appears everywhere there's water. Because of this, they are quite common, similar to Goombas. Max HP is 5, Attack is 2, and Defense is 0. They simply charge into you, but due to being aquatic creatures, they're at an advantage underwater. They can freely float upward or downward, so keep an eye on them."

Shelby: "We got this, Mario."

Mario agrees as he uses his Jump attack on the first Cheep Cheep, doing 2 damage. Shelby uses her Shell Toss on the first Cheep Cheep as well, doing 3 damage since they're still hovering slightly above the ground. Also, just like Shycan and Murry, Shelby has been upgraded to Super-rank thanks to a hidden Super Block in the Toad Town Tunnels. Thanks to that, the first Cheep Cheep is defeated.

Shycan: "Way to go, Shelby."

The Cheep Cheeps weren't done yet, however. The second Cheep Cheep tackled Mario, but the attack was negated due to the guard. The third Cheep Cheep attacked Mario as well, doing 2 damage, but also floated upward, making it immune to Mario's Hammer and Shelby's Shell Toss.

Shycan: "Mario, focus on the third Cheep Cheep. Shelby can't attack it at all."

Mario follows Shycan quick plan and attacked the third Cheep Cheep with his Jump attack, scoring 2 damage on it. Shelby uses her Shell Toss on the second Cheep Cheep, doing 3 damage. The 2 Cheep Cheeps both ram into Mario. Mario guarded the first hit, but couldn't on the second hit, losing 2 HP. Mario jumps on the third Cheep Cheep again, doing 2 damage, while Shelby uses her Shell Toss again to KO the second Cheep Cheep.

Shelby: "Only one more to go."

The last Cheep Cheep ram into Mario again, doing no damage since Mario guarded. With that, Mario finish it off with his jump.

Shycan: "There goes the Cheep Cheeps."

Murry: "Good, now can we move on? The sooner we get this done, the sooner I can be back on dry land..."

Shycan may be ignoring Murry, but the others could see that he's becoming more scared of the water. Mario and his friends continued to swim through the seafloor. They're soon ambushed by more enemies; 2 Bloopers and an Urchin. Shycan scans the new enemies.

Shycan: "Scan complete. That's a Blooper, a squid-like creature that lives in any body of water. They're more aggressive than Cheep Cheeps. Max HP is 6, Attack is 3, and Defense is 0. They can quickly charge into you, or they can squirt ink to you, which can make you blind, making it so some of your attacks will miss. They're at an advantage underwater, so keep an eye on them."

Murry: "Wonderful... Another reason to hate the water..."

Shycan scans the Urchin as well.

Shycan: "That's an Urchin, a spiky ball that rolls around. They may seem calm, but they won't hesitate to attack you. Max HP is 6, Attack is 4, and Defense is 0. They can only roll into you, but their spikiness makes these roll attacks powerful. They can even roll into multiple enemies. They're also immune to some physical contact, meaning Jump attacks are useless."

Mario uses his Hammer attack on the first Blooper, dealing 4 damage. Shelby uses her Power Shell, using 3 FP and scoring 3 damage on all enemies, KOing the first Blooper. The second Blooper ram into Mario, doing 1 damage since he guarded. The Urchin rolled into Mario, doing 2 damage thanks to guarding, but kept rolling into Shelby, who wasn't prepared and lost 3 HP.

Shelby: "Ouch! Sorry about that, Mario..."

Mario said no worries as he uses his Hammer attack on the second Blooper, doing 4 damage and defeating it. Shelby uses her Shell Toss on the Urchin, defeating it as well.

Shelby: "That's another enemy group down!"

Shycan: "Let's move on then."

Mario and his friends continued through the seafloor, battling more Cheep Cheeps, Bloopers, and Urchins, until reaching what looks like an entrance to a cavern.

Shelby: "Hm, you'd think we may find something about the Submerged Temple in here?"

Shycan: "Only one way to find out."

Mario and the gang enter the cavern to find an entire village of Bloopers, all of which are friendly.

Shelby: "WOW! I never thought there would be civilization here!"

Shycan: "Me either! This looks wonderful!"

Murry: "I admit that I'm surprised to see any settlement here, but I'm not a fan of it being underwater."

Just then, a friendly Blooper approached the group.

Friendly Blooper: "Hello there. I'm surprised to see visitors here. Welcome to the Blooper Cove, a village of friendly Bloopers.

Shelby: "Blooper Cove? I've never heard of this place from my school."

Shycan: "Listen, sorry for interrupting things here, but we're looking for a place called the Submerged Temple. Have you heard of it?"

Friendly Blooper: "The Submerged Temple? Nope, never heard of it... Perhaps our mayor knows about it. You could ask him."

Mario nodded, asking where the mayor is.

Friendly Blooper: "I can show you to his place."

Murry: "Sorry, but we don't have time fo..."

Shycan, however, interrupted Murry.

Shycan: "We would like that. Thanks."

Friendly Blooper: "Alright then. Just follow me."

The friendly Blooper headed off to the town, with Mario and his friends following behind. While the Blooper is guiding everyone to the mayor's place, Murry's arguing with Shycan.

Murry: "What's with you!?"

Shycan: "I'm just being polite, something you're not being. Are you in a hurry or something?"

Murry: "Well, yea! Like I said, Monty Moles and water do not mix!"

Shelby: "Are you that scared of the water, Murry?"

Murry: "... Alright, fine! Yes, I'm afraid of the water! I've been afraid of it since I was a child! There, happy now!?"

Shycan: "Well, I'm sorry about that, but we really need to find the Submerged Temple, and every help we can get is appreciated. But if you liked, I could speak to Scuba Guy to see if he can let you ride his submarine. I'm sure there's enough room for one more in there."

Murry was thinking about that, until...

Murry: "You know... I'd like that. Thanks."

Shycan: "However, I would like to know how you've obtain such a fear in the first place."

Murry: "... Maybe later... It hurts just thinking about it..."

With that, the group followed the Blooper through the village. The group may find out some info on the Submerged Temple here. It's only a matter of if things go smoothly...
